The Conference on Research & Development in Power Engineering (RDPE) has been organised biennially for the past 32 years by the Institute of Heat Engineering, Warsaw University of Technology (IHE WUT), and the Institute of Applied Research, Warsaw University of Technology (IAP WUT). This year’s edition of the conference will focus on the most important current challenges facing the European and global power sector, presented by eminent, world-renowned scientists as well as by entrepreneurs and representatives of leading companies specialising in power engineering technologies:

• energy security and resilience of power and heat supply systems,
• decarbonisation pathways and the practical implementation of the energy transition,
• integration of renewable energy sources, energy storage, and smart grids, 
• nuclear energy, including the potential role of Small Modular Reactors, 
• modernisation of infrastructure, system flexibility, and energy affordability.

One of the key areas of the programme will be the search for technologically sound and economically viable solutions that strengthen competitiveness while supporting climate objectives and ensuring reliable operation of energy systems under rapidly changing conditions. RDPE 2026 will also mark an important milestone for the Institute of Heat Engineering – its 65th anniversary.
